St Michael and the Devil is a bronze statue sculpted by Sir Jacob Epstein. It is mounted on the wall by the main entrance to the Cathedral. Commissioned in 1957, it was mounted just under a year after Epstein's death in June 1960. It depicts the Archangel Michael standing over the Devil in triumph from the story of the angel rebellion in the Book of Revelations.
